The Universal Studios Singapore is the first of
its kind to open in Southeast Asia. The park has more than 20 attractions in
themed zones including the Lost World, Ancient Egypt, New York, Hollywood,
Madagascar and Far Far Away (remember Shrek?).

Universal Studios
Singapore is a theme park located within the Resorts World Sentosa in Sentosa
Island. It is the second Universal Studios to open in Asia (Japan being the
first) and the first in Southeast Asia. The construction of Resorts World
Sentosa began on April 19, 2008. After almost two years of construction, the
park officially opened on May 28, 2011.
Sentosa is Singapore’s
popular playground an island of relaxing spas and resorts, thrilling water and
land sports, and other attractions for people of all ages. Pleasant man-made
beaches lie alongside lush rainforests, with plenty of bars, restaurants and
facilities nearby. Sentosa means “peace and tranquility.” Singapore Cable Car
is the most exciting way to arrive at Sentosa. The views of the world’s busiest
port and nearby islands are stunning. Take MRT North-East Line and exit at
HarbourFront station (Exit B), then head to Vivo City Level 3 and take Sentosa
Express. You may take the Cable Car on the same station.
There are only four
Universal Studios in the world located in Florida and California in the United
States; Japan and Singapore. The Universal Studios in Singapore is owned by the
Genting Group, under a license from NBCUniversal, a division of Comcast,
headquartered in Orlando, Florida. Genting Group has a joint venture with
Filipino billionaire Andrew Tan, owner of Resorts World Manila.
Universal Studios
Singapore is 20 hectares in size, occupying the easternmost part of the
49-hectare Resorts World Sentosa. There are a total of 24 attractions, of which
18 are original or specially adapted for the park. The park consists of seven
themed zones which surrounds a lagoon. Each zone is based on a blockbuster
movie or television show, featuring their own unique attractions, character
appearance, dining and shopping parks. The park features the world’s tallest
pair of dueling roller coasters that are based on a popular television series, Battlestar Galactica. The park has over
30 restaurants and food carts, together with 20 unique retail stores and carts
located around the park.
The
themed zones are:
1.
Hollywood
Hollywood is the main entrance of the park. Its
only attraction, a broadway-style theater, is accompanied by several
restaurants and a variety of flagship shops. Themed after the real Hollywood
Boulevard of the 1970s, the zone is framed by dynamic architecture, palm trees
and the famous “Walk of Fame.”

New York
Themed after post-modern New York City that
features sidewalks and classic landmarks that mimic its cityscape. The area is
enhanced by neon lights and flanked by street facades that set the scenes for
big city fun and also real-time movie production for most Hollywood blockbuster
films.

Ancient Egypt
The Ancient Egypt zone is themed after
the rich Egyptian architecture and artifacts found during the Golden Age of
Egyptian Exploration in the 1930s.

The Lost World

Singapore Day Pass costs S$74 or about P2,442 for adult and S$54 or about
P1,782 for child (ages 4 to 12). The Universal Express and Universal Express
Unlimited is more expensive S$122 or about P4,000, where you can skip the
regular queues at all your favorite ride and attractions. There is Family
Package at S$178 or about P5,874 One-Day Pass inclusive of two adults and one
child.
